Nice thought its ok to have the pockets only for holding the gadgets and to carry handbags for holding other things which are required so keep yourself light for selfies and clutter free.
Tote bags becoming a sensation showcased that bags for women are not necessarily required to be dainty or incredibly high fashion. It could be regular . It could be cloth. And still fashionable.
Clothes are so powerful! Thanks for posting this I really enjoyed reading it. I wrote a piece about joining a startup early and learning to dress for the room, and how clothes became a subtle way of navigating power and signalling competence in fast-moving environments. Would love to know what you think. https://substack.com/@sj122/p-187261612
this was such a sharp and satisfying read. the way you tied clothing, mobility, and power together makes something so everyday feel deeply political. i love how you end on reclamation rather than rage. it feels honest, current, and quietly defiant.
Where do pockets come in a saree? And the so called working class Indian women made a pocket for themselves inside their blouses!!!. Even the most unfeminist women can outsmart the men in their lives if they only believe in themselves.
While researching for this post, for me these things seemed more like facts and I decided a story would emphasize the empathetic pov more. But what you said about your grandma's clutches made it real for me. GenZ is changing for the better for sure but sometimes I also wonder whether we're all just a bunch of hypocrites showing support on insta stories yet almost all women want 6 foot muscular guys. What do you think ?

Yes true but it would be nice to have the option. It should be the woman's decision shouldn't it ?

Also men carrying bags for their girlfriends without feeling emasculated is a major win for us as a generationš©·

Sure! I'll give it a read!

Thank you so much!š©·
And yes, I strongly believe rage is justified, but hinders ultimate growth and focusing on solutions is way more productive
This was such a powerful read. I love how you traced inequality through something as āsmallā as pockets and made it feel impossibly big. The generational storytelling was brilliant; it showed how fashion, choice, and silence get inherited just as much as resistance does. That ending felt especially hopefulāquiet revolutions, stitched into everyday life. Truly thought-provoking and so well written š©·
Thank youš„¹š©·
If feminism had a tagline: Let women decide. Handbag optional.
Very well written!
Ikr!! Glad you liked it! Thank youuuuā¤ļø
